Maybe more so, in some cases.įor more Valve handheld advice from someone who's perhaps spent too much of his thirties playing with one, check out the RPS guides to the best Steam Deck accessories and best microSD cards for the Steam Deck. These, like any game you'll find below, can be just as readily enjoyed between your mitts as they can on a gleaming p gaming monitor. It's also subject to change, hence why I’ve just added a few new games – from thoughtful nostalgia sim Dordogne to RPG megahit Diablo 4. Still, I’m hoping it might be at least a little helpful for new Steam Deck owners who might want some suggestions on what to play first. It’s not an RPS 100-style ranking and it certainly isn’t designed to start arguments in the comments. That’s why, as ever, I’m presenting this list with the proviso that the included games are simply ones that I’ve played and found to work particularly well on the Steam Deck. It’s half the handheld’s appeal in the first place: letting you play big chunks of your existing Steam library in a new, more portable way. In truth, though, there are absolutely heaps of games that run smoothly on the Steam Deck, and can be comfortably controlled by its buttons and thumbsticks (as opposed to strictly a mouse and keyboard). Installing the worst Steam Deck games? No, idiot, that’s a terrible idea. Now I just restart the game if I'm going to play for more than a few hours. If you’ve nabbed yourself a Steam Deck, my super-secret, hardware professional top tip is to get installing the best Steam Deck games. So long as I don't leave the game running for a day at a time it runs smoothly. Ironically I get zero stuttering before raids or caravans. Having used unity in the past I have encountered cross-platform issues such as USB game controllers crashing hollow knight on linux or the new rendering pipeline not compiling on linux. I did not realise this game was running on unity but this would explain his use of C# and easy portability. This is why you often see NVIDIA providing driver updates when issues are discovered in new games making use of the hardware in different ways. Software and hardware configuration related bugs are common. Just because you don't get the bug does not mean others aren't getting it. It has since been added to the bug tracker and I leave it to the capable developer and look forwards to a fix. If you feel the urge to insult others then please think back to what your parents hopefully taught you: don't be a I never claimed this issue was universal. If you want to help people then feel free. Quit assuming you fully understand the problem at hand and accept that there may be validity to bug reports that are posted. If you have multiple flame wars going on then the issue is likely your approach. Not only that but I also reported a temporary workaround and a way to recreate the problem. No MSI-tuners, no real-time antivirus, no mods. Had you taken the time to read the post you would of realised that I am running on linux which is likely what triggers the bug. The developer is clearly targeting the Windows platform. This type of issue can occur when a blocking function suddenly becomes non-blocking. It's been reported as a bug on the bug After reporting the bug I was told by the developer that the underlying issue was likely related to the game using 100% of a cpu core and this is how he chose to post it to the bug tracker. If I stay in, this is going to degenerate into a flame war, and I've already got three of those going in other forums. When you have a problem and other players don't, the issue is probably on your end. I see that with every video game, and with the local phone company, and my ISP, and everybody ELSE's ISP (friend of mine had a really bad ethernet connection, and the ISP kept searching HIS house for the problem, replaced his cable modem three times, then after literally TEN YEARS it turned out to be a bad junction box at the end of the block!). People keep insisting "it's not on my end". MSI Tuner or RivaTuner, or whatever that program was called that tends to mess up this game, or a bad driver, or your virus scanner is throwing a fit or something. Your computer doesn't like the game for some reason. Obviously I broke something and got better performance as a result, and Tynan needs to fix it so I get bad performance. I do not get lag or stutter or lockups, even with a dozen pawns and a hundred farm animals. A bug which I'm mysteriously not getting. Originally posted by It's not a mod nor resource availability.
